these guys lived in our ceiling in PA. In the summer they'd forage around the surrounding woods, and colonize heavily inside in the winter, true to form. The ceiling was full of nuts. We could hit it and hear them bounce. Every evening, they'd wake up and scurry around for a while before they jumped out. This guy got inside the living space one day. Exotic as hell, with no fear (I carried the cat food tray outside with him on it, as pictured), and terrifically fast. He got into a loop for a morning, getting into the furnace itself so I had to free him about four times in a row. Mostly we never actually saw them, tho. And yes, this was a rental house.

Oh, man...I've still never seen one of these, despite working in the woods, chasing spotted owls and murrelets. Where was it?
