Thank you very much for posting this. I'm not a lifter (yet...if you know any good coaches for beginners in the Seattle area though...). I am, however, someone very interested in body movement and mechanics, and seeing someone with so much experience is interesting. The crossover to another activity I enjoy is very interesting too- especially the part about letting the body create the movement, not using arm-strength- the intersection of Oly lifting and certain martial arts.
Thank YOU for your comment. I'll ask around about Seattle. I know there is some action in the Tacoma area as far as meets go. The thing about Oly weightlifting is it is the ultimate crossover training for any endeavor. It is indeed all about form and technique and the zen of that, rather than pulling with the arms, which is my ongoing struggle. :-) Stop back anytime.
Thanks, Kat. If you hear of anything in Seattle, I'd greatly appreciate a heads up. There is a lot of Crossfit, but that's not quite my thing.
I can empathize a lot with technique vs. pulling the arms! You can always tell something led with the hips instead of muscled through- one works, one doesn't.
Chris, here's what I've gathered. I don't know anything about them, I just put out the feelers and this is what came back. Let me know if you check either of them out. I'd like to find out about them.
LAB ATHLETICS 1165 East Lake Ave E Seattle, WA 98109 Sandpoint Gym - www.sandpointgym.com kschriver@comcast.net "northwest's premier Olympic Weightlifting and explosive strength training facility"
Then yes, there's Crossfit TheLab | A CrossFit Gym On Eastlake | Strength & Conditioning www.eastlakecrossfit.com
Here's another... Thrush Sports Performance in Sumner, which is kind of by Auburn. That is the home of the Calpians Weightlifting Team. They always do well at Nationals. Melanie Roach trained there and she was on the 2008 Olympic team and still holds some American records.
Thanks for the info! Sandpoint or Eastlake will be closer to me. If/when I make the leap and try my hand at Oly lifts, I'll let you know about which club I try.

Anyway, again, thanks for sharing!
